Is there anything more perfect than the egg?
It has to be the best self-contained food object in almost everyone’s larder or fridge.

What other ingredient has so many uses or can have different results each time you cook it, whether it gets fried, scrambled, stuck in a mayonnaise or eaten raw to clear a hangover.

The egg also has the ability of giving us comfort in the knowledge that it’s a food object you recognise wherever you travel in the world.
